Thank you for visiting the 368th Fighter Group: Portraits of Valor website.  It is with the greatest respect and deepest gratitude that I present this site in honor of the men from the 368th Fighter Group, for their family members and friends, and for all veterans who have served to protect our American freedoms.  I thank you.
 
I most certainly do welcome any and all feedback from members, family, and fans about this site, for every attempt has been made through available resources to correctly identify the individuals pictured here.  Please feel free to contact me about any unknown or inaccurate indentifications that may have been made.  In all regards, I would look forward to hearing from you.

For the scale model enthusiasts, a recently received shipment of GEARBOX 1:6 scale (12" tall) WWII U.S. Army 9th Air Force Fighter Pilot Action Figures is now available to purchase through this site for $24.99 plus shipping costs.  These sets are finely detailed and include a fully articulated figure dressed in an officer's crush cap with Army badge, HBT coveralls with silk screened 9th Air Force shoulder patch, a leather-like bomber jacket with silk screened 9th Air Force shoulder patch, a B4 life vest, a U.S. M7 brown leather shoulder holster, a metal .45 caliber pistol with moveable slide action, and Army service boots. More for the scale modeler, an anticipated shipment of decal sets will be arriving from Kits World.  The War Birds line of decal sets for your P-47D plastic model airplane that will be available soon include designs for 368th Fighter Group pilots Col. Frank S. Perego's "Slick Chick", Lt. William J. Wayland's "Sleepy Jean 3rd", Lt. Harris Krause's "Hard to Get", Lt. Robert Hellwig's "The Down Necker', and "Fran".

  • I'd like to thank very much Ms. Dinah Johnson Chance, daughter of Lt. Walter Johnson - 395th Fighter Squadron pilot, for sending me an assortment of photos of her father as well as a very interesting news article about his experience during the war.
